XBOX pulls a Molyneux, delays Fable to 2027

With numerous games coming out this year and the fall season already reserved for the biggest game of all time, XBOX chose the smart way forward and delayed Fable into next year. Instead of later in 2026, we’ll get our hands on Fable in February 2027, that is unless it’s delayed again in the meantime. XBOX announced the news via X, where it wrote that 2026 was already packed with amazing first- and third-party games for XBOX players to enjoy. “In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves,” they explained, wanting to make Fable stand out among the crowd, which it arguably cannot do with this kind of competition. This is year is packed with incredible games for XBOX players to enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI. This is not the first time Fable has been delayed. It was meant to release sometime last year and was pushed into Fall 2026. Now, the game is set to launch in February 2027. And I think this could be a good thing for the title. Since it’s a reboot and one that XBOX seems to be betting a lot on, it’d be a crying shame for it to just be buried under the competition. We’ve seen Fall release windows kill games more than once, with my most emotional example being Titanfall 2 and its launch next to EA’s own Battlefield 1, among other great shooters.
