By Mulengera Reporters As pressure mounts on government to leverage the Anita Among investigations momentum to cast the net wider, PFF’s Salaam Musumba has specifically called on the President to ensure that the Office of Auditor General is also cleaned up once and for all. Salaam Musumba, a former MP, says that there is no way Anita Among would have succeeded causing all the damage she caused to the institution of Parliament if watchdog offices like the OAG’s had taken their mandate more seriously and fearlessly did their work. She says the investigations ought to cover that office too because unwillingness to decisively fight corruption has been cited there for sometime now. She wonders why it took the President and the CDF to act the way they did, for every investigative offices to begin waking up. Salaam Musumba wondered why CID, ISO and IGG are all of a sudden busy claiming to be keen at fighting corruption at Parliament yet for a long time, the IGG accepted to be under Anita Among’s control and totally ignored whistle blowers who kept volunteering information. That there was a time the IGG was determined to investigate corruption at Micro Finance Support Centre, as an offramp to try and save face, but the IG investigators backed off after fellow investigators from the Auditor General’s offices signaled that going into microfinance would annoy the top leadership at Parliament. That this is how Beti Kamya was abandoning by some powerful actors at Parliament who had promised to use their proximity and influence the President to reappoint her.
