Wait 5 sec.

There’s an interesting video on the clock app “Ask vs Guess Culture.” She talks about how many feel Ask culture is too direct and puts others in a place to say ‘no’. Whereas Guess is a softer approach, yada yada yada. An example she gives is “The box of cereal is too high, I can’t get it.” Vs “Will you get the box of cereal for me, I can’t reach it.” Guess culture feels very manipulative. If I have to guess if and what you want from me. It feels like you are asking others to solve your problems. It also feels like they are hoping others offer (or volunteer) to solve the problem, which means it isn’t a favor and there is no social obligation for thanks, etc. Personally, I ignore Guess “requests.” I’m an Ask person. You need/want something from me? You had been spit it out in plain words. I’m a helper, I like helping. But I won’t be manipulated into doing it.
