Paul Merson has predicted who will stay up between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham, with the pundit expecting plenty of twists and turns on Sunday.Opta consider Tottenham overwhelming favourites to stay up at West Ham’s expense, which is understandable, given that a draw will be enough for the Lilywhites, given their much superior goal difference. However, Spurs have the second-worst home record across the Premier League this season, having won just two matches in front of their fans in 2025-26.They have lost 10 of the 18 league matches they have played at N17 this term, and another defeat on Sunday could send them down for the first time in nearly 50 years.Photo by SpursWebPaul Merson expects an extremely nervy atmosphere at Tottenham against EvertonMerson admitted that Tottenham’s clash against Everton is a hard game to call, and he suggested that the home fans will get extremely nervous if the away side takes the lead. However, he expects De Zerbi’s men to hold on for their third successive draw at home, which will be enough for a 17th-place finish. The former Arsenal midfielder told Sportskeeda: “This is such a hard game to call. Everton have been good away from home recently. I expect them to go out and play without fear, which can make life difficult for Spurs.“Everton have the front four that can hurt Tottenham, and if that happens, it will set the cat among the pigeons. I saw Spurs against Leeds, and they looked nervous after conceding the equaliser. It can happen again this week. I believe the atmosphere will be extremely nervy on Sunday and the Spurs players will feel it.“I’m backing them to hang on for a draw. Tottenham to avoid relegation but I don’t see them being part of the top six next season! Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Everton.”Merson expects Spurs to stay up on goal differenceTottenham could still stay up despite losing against Everton as long as the Hammers fail to beat Leeds at the London Stadium. However, even though Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have lost their last three games in a row, Merson expects them to end the season with a win in front of their own supporters. The pundit added: “West Ham were disappointing against Newcastle. That performance was bordering on shocking, if I’m being honest. Leeds have been amazing this season but this is the last game and I think West Ham can beat them. I say that because West Ham have to win at any cost to avoid relegation. Leeds can afford to relax a bit. The most important thing for West Ham to stay up is that they must score first.“If West Ham score before Tottenham on the final day of the season, that will put pressure on Spurs! If it’s the other way around and Tottenham take an early lead, West Ham might end up losing to Leeds. I have a feeling West Ham will win. But Tottenham need just a draw and they are likely to get it. So I’m afraid it could be all over for West Ham. Prediction: West Ham United 2-1 Leeds United.”READ MORE: Tottenham Hotspur star suffers broken jaw ahead of Everton clash, fans will be fumingThe post Paul Merson predicts Tottenham and West Ham scores, and who will be relegated appeared first on Spurs Web.
