A 21-year-old Scottish man suffered serious injuries after falling around three storeys from the balcony of an apartment in Triq il-Fortizza, Mellieħa, on Sunday evening.Police were informed that assistance was needed near a block of apartments in the area at around 9pm and immediately went to the scene.Preliminary investigations revealed that the man fell from a balcony in the same street.A medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department were called in to assist, before the victim was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance for treatment. He was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.Magistrate Monica Borg Galea has opened an inquiry, while police investigations remain ongoing.•
