Hi all, we are planning a self-drive in June 2026. Toyota Fortuner 4x4, one driver (no prior gravel/4x4 experience, first time in Namibia). Would love a reality check on one tight driving day that come on the trip. I've done a fair bit of research, but please correct me if any of my assumptions are off. Brandberg White Lady Lodge → Halali (Etosha) via Uis → Outjo → Andersson Gate I'm estimating ~450 km, mixed gravel then tar from Outjo onward Plan: depart lodge 07:00 ( is there enough light on D2359 at that hour?) Fuel at Uis, then push to Outjo (hoping to arrive ~12:00 for fuel + ATM + groceries, ~1h stop) Top up at Etosha Trading Post Through Andersson Gate → Okaukuejo → Halali Target arrival at Halali: 18:00 This is our longest driving day. Questions: Is 7am departure realistic from Brandberg, enough visibility on D2359 at that hour in June? D2359 + C35 to Outjo, what's a realistic driving time? Outjo to Halali via Andersson Gate, how long in practice? I'm guessing gate processing takes 10–20 min, then Okaukuejo → Halali is 74 km at 60 km/h, does that sound right? Has anyone done this exact leg recently? Any input appreciated, especially from anyone who's driven these roads recently. Thanks! submitted by /u/seprisutniot [link] [comments]
