He was speaking after interacting with nomadic families residing in an open area in the Ramanagar area near Kakade Chowk.Mr. Ahimsa said that despite living in the area since 1982, the families continue to lack basic amenities such as drinking water and electricity. “Governments may have changed over the years, but their living conditions remain the same,” he said.He observed that while the economic influence of the affluent continues to grow, poor communities are still struggling to meet basic needs. He added that the system has deepened inequality and kept nomadic and marginalised groups out of the mainstream.Mr. Ahimsa stressed the need for political will to bring meaningful change in the lives of such communities.He referred to the “Cockroach Janata Party”, saying it reflected public anger and growing political awareness. However, he added that social media outrage alone would not bring change unless it evolved into a strong social movement against inequality.Slum Janandolana Karnataka Kalaburagi district coordinator Renuka Saradagi, its member Gouramma and others were present.Published - May 25, 2026 07:18 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
