Developer CD Projekt Red has announced a new livestream to celebrate the anniversary of the Blood and Wine DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This has led some fans to guess that the long-awaited 2026 DLC for the RPG will be revealed. While nothing has been confirmed, multiple high-level sources have stated that some kind of update for The Witcher 3 is happening this year. These sources indicate that the DLC will be to prepare fans for the next installment of The Witcher franchise, likely The Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red previously announced that the next game in the franchise wouldn’t be arriving in 2026, though, leading more credence to a possible Witcher 3 DLC this year. Many fans in the community and on social media believe the upcoming Witcher 3 livestream, set for May 28 at 5 PM CEST, will finally unveil this new content in the decade-old game. This was the last major piece of content to drop for The Witcher 3, but we have seen the developers add smaller bits of content over the years, such as the Next-Gen Update in 2023. The livestream is set to showcase CD Projekt Red developers playing through Blood and Wine and likely talking about what made the DLC so special. You can watch the livestream on CD Projekt Red’s Twitch and YouTube channels. While it’s entirely possible this stream will showcase only Blood and Wine, fans adamantly believe the new rumored Witcher 3 DLC will be teased or announced in some fashion. One fan even remarks, “Am I being baited again?” This is likely in reference to the long wait for a new Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer and how developer Rockstar Games has continually bypassed fan-crafted deadlines. If we do end up seeing confirmation about a new Witcher 3 update for 2026, it’s unclear exactly what CD Projekt Red has in store. All the leaks and rumors about the unconfirmed DLC stated that the update won’t be massive, but it will deliver fresh content to the game that could tie into The Witcher 4. This could mean that Ciri, the spiritual daughter of the main character Geralt of Rivia, plays a large role in the potential DLC. Ciri is confirmed to be the new protagonist in The Witcher 4, as we saw her in action through a tech demo for Unreal Engine 5 back in 2025.
