Trump has said in recent days that negotiations may be approaching a breakthrough, although Iranian officials have publicly disputed suggestions that an agreement is close.Camp David has historically been used for major national security and diplomatic discussions. During his first term, Trump hosted 15 meetings at the presidential retreat.According to a White House official quoted by the Post, Tuesday’s discussions are expected to focus on “recent successes of the administration including economy and small business wins, Task Force to Eliminate Fraud highlights, and foreign policy updates.”The gathering comes after Trump previously hosted Cabinet members and senior officials at Camp David on June 8, 2025, for talks related to Iran and Gaza. Weeks later, on June 22, 2025, Trump ordered US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.Separately on Tuesday, the United States launched strikes in southern Iran targeting missile launch sites and boats that American officials said were attempting to lay mines. The action took place as Iranian negotiators arrived in Qatar for talks intended to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.Capt.
