Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering another round of off-field changes this summer, with former players now emerging as potential candidates for executive roles as the club looks to rebuild following a disastrous campaign.Tottenham Hotspur’s host of boardroom changes at the start of the recently concluded 2025-26 season did little to stop the club’s slump on the pitch.Changes that included the appointment of Peter Charrington as non-executive chairman, the departure of former chairman Daniel Levy and the shift to a two-sporting-director model culminated in one of the worst seasons in recent years for the north London club. However, one off-field decision to bring in Roberto De Zerbi as manager after getting it wrong with yet another poor appointment proved to be the saving grace for Tottenham, who secured their Premier League status with a 1-0 win over Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.Photo by Peter Powell – Pool/Getty ImagesTottenham consider Toby Alderweireld for executive rolePreparation now turns towards next season and, according to The Times, Spurs are looking to make more executive appointments this summer. This time, though, Tottenham are reported to be taking a different approach, with the latest reports claiming the Lilywhites are considering bringing in executives with footballing knowledge. That could place former defender Toby Alderweireld on their list after the Belgian revealed he would be open to a move.Speaking some time last week, Alderweireld said after he put his name in the hat for an executive role at Spurs: “Yeah, for sure. It’s up to someone else to decide if I have the qualities and about the right position but I would do everything in my power. I think I have good connections with the fans and the club. I know the club, I played there for six years. If Tottenham need help, I’m there, why not?”Ben Davies is also highly regarded internally and is expected to step up once his playing career ends, although it remains unclear which specific roles Spurs are looking to fill. The Times article read: ‘The club will make further executive appointments this summer and will consider bringing former players back for the right roles, after Toby Alderweireld told The Times last week he would love to return. Ben Davies is very well thought of and there is a belief he will step up after he finishes playing, either into a coaching or strategic position.’Spurs fans want focus on squad rebuildTottenham will surely want to do whatever it takes to improve performances on the pitch, especially with mounting pressure from supporters on the board to get things right. The recently concluded season was completely unacceptable for a club of Tottenham’s stature, and improvements are needed quickly. However, the big question remains whether Spurs need more executive appointments at this stage, given the clear need for a major overhaul on the pitch. Bringing in players who improve the squad is what many fans will be eager to see rather than another boardroom reshuffle.READ MORE: ‘Should have been our keeper all year’ – Tottenham fans are falling in love with Antonin KinskyThe post How major boardroom changes at Tottenham could involve Alderweireld and Ben Davies appeared first on Spurs Web.
