Elena De Gabriele is presenting Telf, a solo exhibition opened yesterday at Espai Jove VLC in Valencia on Friday 22nd May.Curated by Natividad Navalón and Teresa Cháfer, the exhibition is the culmination of a two-year research and creative project exploring the erosion of Maltese traditions under the pressures of gentrification, overdevelopment and mass tourism.Through a dialogue between painting and cast sculpture, De Gabriele reflects on themes including the disappearance of traditional Maltese architecture, the environmental impact of illegal development, the decline of artisanal fishing and wider threats facing historical heritage. The artist combines personal experience with extensive research drawn from journalistic archives and scientific reports, blending autobiography, documentation and artistic reflection.Serving as her final degree project, Telf marks a major milestone in De Gabriele’s emerging artistic career and will run until 28th May.Would you visit this exhibition?•
