Samsung started rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update a couple of weeks ago. Many eligible devices, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra, have already received the update in most markets. One UI 8.5 brings several new features, but not all of them make it to older models. Our colleagues at SamMobile TV have published a new video highlighting the features that haven't made it to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. While Samsung does offer some of the best software upgrade support of all Android OEMs, it's not necessary that older devices get all new features. There are often hardware and other limitations that don't make it possible for all of the features to filter down to those models. Some recent improvements to Galaxy AI features are missing from the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. While Call assist is present, it misses out on the call screening capabilities. In Photo assist, the create tab doesn't have the text icon. The new style tab for making Galaxy AI-assisted edits to photos is missing as well. You can't turn images into a watercolor style, for example, which is possible with One UI 8.5 on more recent models.Samsung hasn't brought in Audio eraser for videos yet, which is a disappointment, as it's a very useful feature. It's unclear how much of what's missing is due to device limitations or deliberate omissions, but it will be frustrating nonetheless for Galaxy S23 Ultra owners.
