Fresh off completing one of the toughest endurance races in the world, Maltese ultra athlete Fabio Spiteri has shared an emotional reaction after officially finishing the Double Deca race.Spiteri became the first Maltese athlete and only the 34th person worldwide to complete the brutal challenge, which included a 76km swim, a 3,600km bike ride and an 844km run.Reflecting on the race, Spiteri admitted the challenge pushed him to his absolute limit.“The distance never ends,” he said while describing the extreme endurance test. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Despite staying strong for most of the race, Spiteri revealed that during the final 100km of the run, his shins “gave out”, forcing him to walk the remainder of the distance to the finish line.He still managed to complete the race in 530 hours, equivalent to 22 days and three hours, while surviving on around four hours of sleep per day.“Would I do this race again?
