Momentum has criticised the ongoing regeneration projects in Marsaskala, arguing that residents are being left with environmental damage, safety risks and poor accessibility instead of genuine improvements.In a statement, the party claimed several parts of the coastline remain neglected despite heavy government promotion of the projects.Momentum pointed specifically to the condition of Triq iż-Żonqor and collapsed retaining walls near the water polo pitch, saying these areas have remained dangerous and inaccessible for months.The party also raised concerns about environmental damage, alleging that construction rubble from removed coastal arches has been left in the sea while native plants and palm trees along the promenade have been removed or destroyed.Momentum candidate Mark Philip Camilleri Gambin said residents should not be expected to accept “environmental destruction and declining accessibility under the guise of regeneration”.The party is now calling on authorities to urgently repair unsafe areas, restore accessibility, publish procurement and environmental details linked to the projects, and prevent further damage to Marsaskala’s coastline and marine habitats.Momentum argued that regeneration projects should focus on public safety, accessibility and environmental protection rather than what it described as short-term political optics.What do you make of the works happening in Marsaskala?•
