Coop Services Ltd has confirmed that school transport services will continue running normally on 1st June after discussions with the Education Ministry over concerns related to student safety during election celebrations. The cooperative, commonly known as the minibuses cooperative, said its main concern throughout discussions was ensuring the safety and security of children being transported to and from school. In a statement, Coop explained that the Ministry for Education provided assurances that special traffic measures and coordinated arrangements will be in place on the day. This comes as Malta is expected to once again see celebratory carcades, street gatherings, and political festivities following the general election results, something that often leads to heavy traffic and crowded roads across the island.Despite the expected celebrations, Coop confirmed that school transport operations will proceed as normal. The cooperative also appealed to parents for cooperation to help ensure services run “as seamlessly as possible” while prioritising the safe transportation of children. With election celebrations expected to dominate roads around Malta this weekend, authorities and transport operators now appear focused on balancing political festivities with keeping schools and daily routines functioning safely.Share with a parent in your life!•
