How is Messi the GOAT when he never left his comfort zone?

Wait 5 sec.

I don’t get how the GOAT debate is considered over. Cristiano Ronaldo went out and conquered the three toughest leagues in the world. He won league titles, domestic cups, and Champions Leagues in England, Spain, and Italy. He proved he could dominate in entirely different football cultures and tactical systems. Meanwhile, Messi spent virtually his entire prime in a perfectly tailored system at Barcelona. When he finally left, he chose a financially dominant PSG in a weaker French league before leaving Europe entirely. Does true greatness require proving you can adapt and win anywhere? Or does Messi's raw peak at Barça erase the need for him to test himself in the Premier League? submitted by /u/Hour777 [link] [comments]
