Singer Kohen Jaycee has spoken openly about being compared to Joshua Baraka, saying he has nothing but admiration and support for his success.Speaking during an interview on NRG Ignition with Mr. Henrie, Kohen revealed that long before Joshua Baraka became a mainstream sensation, the two were closely connected through the same music circles and creative camps.According to Kohen, they spent nearly two years around the same squad, including the Bantu Vibes camp, building relationships and chasing similar dreams in music. The whole Bantu Vibes, the whole squad… we used to be together because he has songs with some of the guys and that’s how he linked up with Axon so we were on the same trajectory. He added that although Baraka’s breakthrough happened first, it was a result of both hard work and timing aligning perfectly. It just so happens that luck found him but he’s also such a very hardworking young man and everything just aligned. You can’t be spiteful of something like that.Kohen further noted that Joshua Baraka’s achievements inspire him rather than discourage him. To him, seeing someone from the same circle succeed is proof that bigger opportunities are possible for everyone else as well.“God is in the neighbourhood,” Kohen said, explaining that Baraka’s rise gives hope to many upcoming artists trying to break through.Kohen Jaycee’s concert: A night of authentic music and powerful live vocalsKohen also revealed that he had closely watched Joshua Baraka’s growth even before 2023, before the rest of the world discovered him. Despite public comparisons between them, Kohen insists he never felt threatened. For me the comparison never affected me because literally these guys used to sing my songs.Kohen added that he feels proud knowing he played a role in inspiring fellow artists and helping prove that success in the Ugandan music industry is achievable.Even him he still gives us credit so we only wish him nothing but the best. @nrgradioug The comparison between me and Joshua Baraka has never affected me because those guys were literally singing my songs ~ @Kohen Jaycee Full interview on @letsplayitloud app brought to you by @captainmorgan.africa #NRGIgnition #NRGRadioUG ♬ original sound – 106.5 NRG Radio UG The post Kohen Jaycee responds to Joshua Baraka comparisons appeared first on MBU.
