Malta has taken part in Locked Shields 2026, described as one of the world’s largest and most complex live-fire cyber defence exercises.The exercise, organised by the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), brought together international experts to defend critical systems against highly sophisticated cyber threats in a fast-paced, real-time environment.Malta joined forces with Italy and Slovenia and was represented by nine technical experts from several entities including the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Armed Forces of Malta, Malta Police Force, MITA, FIAU, MDIA and Bank of Valletta.Authorities said Malta’s participation reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen national cyber resilience and international cooperation in cyber defence.How important is cyber security for countries like Malta?Image: Armed Forces of Malta•
