Arne Slot’s side are likely to take that place regardless, due to their superior goal difference.However, a twist of events could see sixth-place take Champions League football. After Aston Villa won the Europa League, sixth place will secure Champions League football if Villa finish fifth. That would require Unai Emery’s team to lose at Manchester City, and Liverpool to beat Brentford. Bournemouth are sixth, but Brighton will overtake the Cherries if they win and Bournemouth lose.
