John Cornyn concedes Texas Senate race – May 26, 2026Senator John Cornyn (RINO-TX) drove the internet crazy on Friday after posting a very cryptic tweet a few days following his massive loss to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the Texas GOP Senate runoff election. As The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson reported, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton smoked Cornyn in a landslide victory on Tuesday. The race was called within one hour of the polls closing.Out of nowhere, Cornyn decided to tweet the famous fable of the scorpion and the frog. As TGP readers know, the frog decides to carry the scorpion across the river after the eight-legged arthropod promises not to sting it.But the scorpion suddenly betrays the frog, stinging it in the middle of the river, and both die. When the dying frog asked the scorpion why it stung, the arthropod replied: “I couldn’t help myself. It’s my character.”“An old, but apt fable,” Cornyn began in his tweet. “A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across.”“The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of the river,” he continued. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion.”“Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: ‘I am sorry, but I couldn’t help myself. It’s my character.’ ”An old, but apt fable:A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of…— Senator John Cornyn (@JohnCornyn) May 29, 2026Social media users immediately began speculating about what Cornyn could have meant by this fable. Many thought he was calling Trump the scorpion and himself the frog.Others theorized that Cornyn was calling himself the scorpion.Dear Senator @JohnCornyn: Thank you for the fable. I’m curious, why do you and so many other Republican elected officials choose to be hesitant frogs? Why not choose to be the elephant that has historically represented the GOP. Elephants are not scared of poisonous scorpions. https://t.co/F2ajPrRvMJ— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) May 29, 2026Allow me to interpret:Cornyn and fellow do nothing Republicans are the scorpion, voters chose not to trust him and others for another cycle.Cornyn is sad about this, but we really don’t care. https://t.co/QzMowz67pm— CA ET Nerd (@earlyvotedata) May 29, 2026John Cornyn is the frog in this fable, and Donald Trump is the scorpion.John is still too much of a coward to come outright and say it, though. I guess this is a baby step. https://t.co/49crS2pUwM— C-Bo the Eggman (@CBoTheEggman) May 29, 2026John Cornyn comes out and says what senators have been telling me privately….They’re perplexed, angry, and, in some cases, resigned to the conclusion that Trump cares more about himself than the midterms. https://t.co/4EeopRNcZE https://t.co/UHHslpqGKv— Leigh Ann Caldwell (@LACaldwellDC) May 29, 2026So President Trump is the scorpion and you’re the frog?— Stephen Richer (@stephen_richer) May 29, 2026It’s an apt fable. Maybe the 1st time you’ve been honest in your career as a politician. An old RINO wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks MAGA to carry it across. MAGA hesitates, afraid that the old RINO might stab it in the back, but the old RINO promises not to,…— Pax Trumpiana (@CincinnatusPax) May 29, 2026The post John Cornyn Sends Internet into a Frenzy with This Cryptic Tweet Following Landslide Loss to Ken Paxton appeared first on The Gateway Pundit.
