I get a small treat once a month, and that's because I was cautious with my money and saved up a little bit extra. When I was in college it was a $3 veggie burrito from the Mexican bakery next door to my house. I would usually treat myself after a difficult project or exam. Now that I can afford it more, I cook at home with better ingredients. I treat myself to a $3 ice cream at Costco because I survived shopping with the kids. Our whole family order is still less than $20.
