Jermall Charlo is reportedly set to return to the ring on the bumper Tim Tszyu vs Errol Spence Jr undercard on July 25 in Australia. His opponent has yet to be confirmed, although his bout is expected to act as chief support. Stephanie TrappSHOWTIMECharlo has only fought once in three years[/caption]That is according to Fox Sports Australia, which is reporting that promoter No Limit is seeking out a suitable Australian opponent. Charlo has recently operated between middleweight (160lbs) and super middleweight (168lbs), two divisions that are rich with talent Down Under. There is former Commonwealth champion Michael Zerafa, WBC Grand Prix winner Dylan Biggs, as well as unbeaten prospects Max McIntyre and Callum Peters.Regardless of who the organisers pick for Charlo, it is expected to be a winnable fight given his lack of activity. His next outing marks the two-weight world champion’s second fight in three years and his first since stopping Thomas LaManna in May 2025. Why has Jermall Charlo been so inactive? Charlo’s lengthy stretch on the sidelines can mostly be attributed to his poor mental health in recent years. Opening up on his struggles during a candid interview with The New York Post, Charlo said: “Depression, self-conflation, going from hot to cold really fast is shocking to you.“Dealing with all kinds of cases of [being] bipolar, being by yourself, thinking that you shutting the world out is gonna help you. “But you need to be able to speak to someone and help you get past whatever you’re going through.“It just feels like everybody is against you. Charlo will act as chief support for Spence Jr and Tszyu’s Aussie blockbuster“I don’t care if you’re in the Uber, a cab, wherever; everybody is just against you. Why I felt like this, [I don’t know]. “I couldn’t tell that some people weren’t against me.“It was just that, at the moment, it’s the way you’re feeling, and I turned my back against pretty much the world. “I just had to start getting help with it, and it made me a lot better.”Jermall’s twin brother, Jermell, has been on the sidelines for even longer. The former undisputed super welterweight champion hasn’t set foot in the ring since his lopsided unanimous decision loss to Canelo Alvarez in September 2023.He had been locked into negotiations with Spence Jr last year, but the fight never came to fruition.
