This unit is headquartered at Fort Carson, Colorado, with a forward-deployed battalion at Stuttgart, Germany, under U.S. Special Operations Command Europe, and is among the Army's most versatile special operations forces. Here they can be seen with unmanned aerial systems and night vision equipment to conduct surveillance and direct action missions during exercise Ridge Runner at Lake Lynn, West Virginia, April 20, 2026. The group maintains a European theater focus, specializing in unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, and direct action. Recent training has emphasized adaptation to the drone-saturated battlefield, with operators completing various advanced UAS courses.
