Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to explore value opportunities ahead of the summer transfer window, and another potential bargain option has now emerged.Tottenham Hotspur’s activity ahead of the summer transfer window has largely centred around bargain deals.Spurs Web reported only a few days ago that, despite Juventus attempting to hijack Spurs’ move for Robertson, the verbal agreement reached a couple of months ago remains on track, with the player expected to complete his move to N17 soon.A few days later, Spurs Web also relayed that Tottenham has agreed on a four-year deal to sign another free agent, Marcos Sensei, after reaching a verbal agreement months earlier. Both deals hinged on Spurs retaining their Premier League status and, with that now secured – albeit narrowly – Tottenham are looking to strengthen their squad further.Photo by Matteo Ciambelli/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty ImagesTottenham join Sunderland in race for Jhon Lucumi transferSpurs’ search for bargain additions has not stopped there, with Il Resto Del Carlino now reporting that Tottenham are interested in Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi. The Colombian defender was monitored by Sunderland last summer, but the Black Cats failed in their attempts to lure him to the Stadium of Light after Bologna blocked a move.Fast forward to this summer, and Sunderland remain in the running for Lucumi, while Spurs have now entered the picture. This time, however, Bologna could be forced into a sale, with the defender’s contract set to expire next summer, potentially making him available at a reduced fee.Spurs face strong competition for Jhon LucumiTottenham are not only competing with Sunderland for the centre-back’s signature. Italian clubs also remain firmly in contention, with both Inter Milan and AS Roma showing interest in Lucumi. There was also interest from AC Milan and Juventus, but their failure to secure Champions League football has reportedly pushed them out of the race. The Premier League now appears a likely destination and, after Sunderland offered £24m (€28m) last summer, it is claimed the defender could be available for around £17m (€20m) this time around.READ MORE: Roberto De Zerbi identifies the key area he wants Tottenham to improve in next seasonThe post Tottenham enter race for bargain Jhon Lucumi deal after Sunderland’s failed £24m bid appeared first on Spurs Web.
