Shivakumar, who is set to take oath as Chief Minister on Wednesday (June 3).Responding to queries from presspersons in Bengaluru on the celebrations by party workers, the Chief Minister-designate said, “A party worker is becoming the Chief Minister ... a loyal party worker. I have been in the party since 1979, when I started as a student leader. They (party workers) may be happy. I will not deny it.” Regarding the swearing-in ceremony at Lok Bhavan, he said, “I can understand the enthusiasm of party workers, but we have to do it (celebrations) in limits because there are other issues.”Meanwhile, as party leaders and workers are expected to meet him ahead of the swearing-in celebrations, Mr. Shivakumar said: “Nobody should garland me. I am allergic to flowers since it causes itchiness because other flowers would have come in contact with sugandharaja. I have prohibited flower garlands and will not receive them (from anyone).”Meanwhile, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, MLC and son of outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, met the Chief Minister-designate at Kumara Krupa Guest house on Sunday evening.Dr. Yathindra told presspersons that he was also a Ministerial berth aspirant, and that the party high command had promised to give him a berth.Published - May 31, 2026 08:57 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
