I’m 21 and living in Scotland. About two years ago, my periods started becoming very irregular. Last summer, while visiting my home country, I was formally diagnosed with endometriosis by two different hospitals (the 2nd hospital wanted to double check and confirm diagnosis). They also found a ~2cm cyst on my left ovary, which they weren’t concerned about. The diagnosis surprised me because my main symptom wasn’t just pain (though I do get pain of varying severity) - it was bleeding for 2–3 weeks every single month. Since returning to Scotland, the bleeding has escalated to practically a daily basis. It’s a small volume, but I just know it’ll be daily. I feel like I don't see many people with endo talking about daily bleeding, which makes me feel quite alone. I was referred to NHS gynaecology last late October and was put on the "priority" list, but I was told the standard waitlist is 2 years. Here is what I've tried with my GP while waiting for gynaecology referral care: Progesterone-only pill (Mini-pill): Tried for 3 months. Did absolutely nothing. (Can't take the combined pill due to a history of headaches/blood clot risk) Mefenamic Acid (NSAID): Strangely, this stopped the bleeding completely for a whole month! Life felt normal again. But once my next actual period hit, the bleeding started and never stopped again, rendering the treatment ineffective. (I still take this to reduce the pain) Depo-Provera Injection: This also worked beautifully at first! It pushed my cycle to 5 weeks and stopped the daily bleeding. But again, once my next period arrived, it seemed to override the treatment. I gave Depo a second shot, and my next injection is due this July. I’m currently bleeding daily again. My Current Dilemma: Because I don't want an IUD and know that Depo is only a temporary 2 year option anyway, I'm stuck. I don't know whether to: 1. Stick with the Depo and hope it settles. 2 Try the IUD despite being very uncomfortable with it. 3 Call the gynaecology department to push on my waitlist status. I’m not even sure if my bleeding can be fixed with hormonal therapy at this point. Has anyone else experienced this constant daily bleeding with endo? And has anyone successfully navigated the NHS waitlist in Scotland or found a treatment that actually stayed working? Thank you in advanced for any help ❤️ submitted by /u/10_dough101 [link] [comments]
