Manchester City’s historic season reached new heights on Sunday at Wembley Stadium. The Citizens completed a domestic double after capturing the FA Cup in a 4-0 finals victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. U.S. women’s national team midfielder Sam Coffey was not available as she continued injury rehabilitation on her knee following recent surgery. It marked Man City’s fourth-ever FA Cup triumph and their first since 2020. After a positive start for the underdog Seagulls, it was the Citizens who struck first through their Golden Boot winner. Bunny Shaw headed home Lauren Hemp’s cross for her 26th goal of the season in all competitions. The USWNT veteran also helped the Citizens capture a first WSL title in 10 years earlier this spring, sealing them a spot in the 2026-27 UEFA Women’s Champions League. Although Coffey will not be with the USWNT for June’s road friendlies in Brazil, she is expected to be back for the start of Man City training camp this summer.
