Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement Organises Tibet Awareness Talk and SEE Learning Outreach Programme at PM Shri VCGL Government Senior Secondary School, RavanglaRavangla, South Sikkim: As part of the ongoing commemorative programmes marking the 90th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama and celebrating the global Year of Compassion, the Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement Ghoton Committee successfully organised a special Tibet Awareness Talk and Introduction to SEE Learning (Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning) outreach programme for the teachers and students of PM Shri VCGL Government Senior Secondary School, Ravangla on 29 May 2026.The programme witnessed the participation of over 500 students and teachers and aimed to promote awareness about Tibet, compassion-based education, and the values of emotional and ethical learning among the younger generation.The programme was graced by Shri Tseten Bhutia, OSD Buddha Park, as the Chief Guest, along with the Principal of the school and other distinguished guests.During the programme, Settlement Officer Kalsang Tseten delivered an engaging and informative Tibet awareness presentation highlighting Tibet’s unique history, culture, environment, and the Tibetan people’s journey in exile. In a deeply moving segment of the session, he also shared parts of his own personal life journey and struggles while relating them to the Tibetan issue and the realities of living in exile. His heartfelt narration created a strong emotional connection with the audience, and many students and teachers personally expressed their empathy and appreciation after the session, stating that the talk had deeply touched them emotionally and helped them better understand the Tibetan people’s story.The presentation also focused on the importance of preserving compassion, peace, cultural identity, and humanity in today’s rapidly changing world.Following the awareness session, Nawang Tsedup, teacher of Sambhota Tibetan School Ravangla, introduced the concept of SEE Learning through an interactive PowerPoint presentation and various live student activities. The session received enthusiastic participation from the students and teachers, making the programme both educational and lively.As part of the outreach initiative, the Kunphenling Tibetan Ghoton Committee distributed more than 500 special edition Ghoton diaries and pens to the students and teachers of the school. Tea and snacks were also served to all participants during the programme.The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Speaker of the Local Tibetan Assembly, Yangdup.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Yangdup, Speaker of the Local Tibetan Assembly.Among those in attendance were Tenzin Topden, President of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement; the President of the Regional Tibetan Women’s Association; all seven camp leaders of the settlement; and members of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), who also assisted in the management of kitchen and refreshment arrangements.Both the Principal of the school and the Chief Guest highly appreciated the initiative and encouraged the organisers to continue conducting such meaningful educational outreach programmes for students in the future.The Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement Ghoton Committee further announced that the next phase of the school outreach programme will be conducted on 1 June 2026 at Government Senior Secondary School, Kewzing.The initiative reflects the Tibetan community’s continued effort to strengthen friendship, awareness, compassion, and cultural understanding with the local community through education and meaningful engagement.-Report filed by TSO, Kunphenling
