Alleged misbehaviour by police officer: HC directs govt. to verify compliance with its order - The HinduPublished - June 03, 2026 12:22 am IST - KOCHIThe Kerala High Court has directed the State government to verify compliance with a High Court order passed in December 2025 that had directed the Inspector General of Police (Ernakulam Range) to consider a complaint regarding the alleged misbehaviour by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) towards a woman film producer.In her plea, Sheela Kurian, the producer, had sought criminal prosecution against former Alappuzha DySP Madhu Babu, who, she said, behaved rudely and acted in a manner outraging her modesty in February 2025 when she visited his office. The behaviour was in violation of the directions issued by the State Police Chief regarding the etiquette that police personnel must follow, she had said in her plea.She had approached the High Court in 2025, alleging inaction in her complaint. She further sought a direction to the State government, the State Police Chief, the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), the Inspector General of Police (Ernakulam Range), and the District Police Chief of Alappuzha to initiate criminal proceedings against the DySP.
