It's so expensive to run those lines. A friend bought 70 acres and put a house on it. The land was dirt cheap. The house was a prefab kit so spendy, but reasonable. But to run electric lines was wild. And they weren't even that far away from a road. Add in septic and a well. The land was the easy part. Fun fact. They first hired a scientific type company to find a spot for the well. Three attempts, no luck. They then bring in a dowser, some 85 year old dude with a stick (and a 40 year old wife who came along to hang out, his fifth wife in his long life). The dowser took a few passes across the ground, pointed at a spot. Boom. Water.
