Hello, I (26F) am an American student and will be temporarily living in JHB for the next several months. I'll be staying in Rosebank which I know is a pretty safe area, but I wanted to get a sense of the extent to which I can walk to places nearby on my own. I've been reading lots os posts that say essentially don't walk anywhere alone, but I'm not totally sure whether this applies literally anywhere, any distance, or if there are some places I can reliably walk around on my own.
