Complete Trading Strategy 8 Hour 20smaE-mini Dow Jones Industrial Average Index FuturesCBOT_MINI:YM1!FOMC_GodI am writing this to share my own personal strategy and to help myself to organize it better in my head. I will admit that I haven't been executing it that well this year as I was getting too focused on the smaller timeframes trying to hone in on my entries. But that is me personally and in no way reflects the strategy itself. The strategy itself is highly profitable if followed correctly. I start with the 8 hour chart as my MAJOR higher timeframe reference. I follow what the 8 hour chart is doing and try not to go against it. Do I sometimes? Yes, I make mistakes. My losses are small and my profits are big so a couple of dumb trades are wiped out with one trade. 8 HOUR CHART 20 period simple moving average There are only two states to the 20sma. Trending and Flat. There are rules for each state. Trending. Buy AT/NEAR rising 20 Avoid entering too far AWAY from the 20 Sell AT/NEAR rising 20 Flat. Buy UNDER flat 20 Sell ABOVE flat 20 30 MINUTE CHART This is the entry timeframe. The timeframe used to find HOW to get in after analyzing the 8 Hour and finding what type of play and state it is in. Flat 8 Hour 20sma I try to find the lowest risk entries, I.E. small candles. I use the same thinking on the 30 minute chart to time my entries as well. Flat, buy under/sell above. Trending, buy/sell at/near. This strategy relies on fixed risk to reward of 2.5 to 1 All or Nothing. Once in, stops and targets are set and are not touched. The goal is to achieve a 45-55% win rate, with 60% being outstanding and phenomenal. I will get into the actual risk management rules in a bit. For now, how to get in is important but is the least important. The 8 Hour state and locations are the MOST important. I will show you a couple of trades I actually took. Non negotiable rules: One trade can be opened per daily candlestick 2.5 risk to reward Must hold overnight/weekends until either stopped out or target filled 1.5% risk per trade NEVER trade against the 8 Hour trend EVERY trade has the same fixed risk (If 1.5% is $150 then every trade will be $150 until the next level has been reached Every 20R re evaluate account size and risk levels Example: $10,000 account 1.5% is $150 20R is $3000 profits New balance is $13,000 1.5% is now $200 20R is $4000 profits Next level is $17,000 1.5% is now $250 20R is $5000 profits New balance is now $22,000 Keep going until each level is reached. If you experience a losing streak and fall back below the last level, reduce your risk back down to that level and increase it after you get back into the next higher level. Example. In level $22,000, fall down to $18,000. Reduce risk to $250 until back to $22,000
