While the poster is obviously delusional and I’m a little surprised that they do not expect someone to pay them for the opportunity to serve them and simply be in their presence, it’s also not modern slavery. No one is being forced to accept this position or to do this work without pay nor does it sound like these highly educated idiots would engage in any of the actions of modern slavery that would prevent someone from being allowed to leave. Modern slavery covers things like human trafficking for labor or commercial sexual exploitation or any other purpose, forced labor, forced marriage, domestic servitude, and most frequently debt bondage. It encompasses situations like on Lake Volta in Ghana where desperately poor families sell their children to fishermen who then force them to work from before sun up to after sun down without any access to education, use violence and the restriction of food to keep them under control and from leaving, and often promise families that their children will be receiving an education as well as an apprenticeship to coerce them into surrendering their children that they struggle to even feed so that they can have a”better life”. Or children and whole families as well as individuals in places like India who are required to in dangerous environments like sweat shops or quarries because the adults are held in bondage by a debt to an individual that is continually manipulated and added to so that no matter how hard or long they work it will never be enough to repay the debt and grant them freedom. Or the children and youth who mine the rare minerals that are necessary for our cell phones and tablets and technology without any say in the matter nor freedom to quit/leave. Or the people we pass by without really giving it much thought who are forced into commercial sex work against their will. The people who travel from countries with deep poverty to places like Dubai following promises of jobs with pay that will allow them to support their families back home only to have their passports, critical to any chance of leaving the country to return home, stolen and held by employers to force them to work and obey under threat of never returning home or seeing loved ones again. It is not two pretentious adults with far more money than sense thinking that someone will jump at the chance and privilege of being allowed within their home and near themselves and their family even if someone makes the choice to accept because they feel there are few options available to them in society because it is still a willing choice without threats or coercion or utilization of means of control by the parents. The key to this is choice- in modern slavery there is no choice, there is no ability to decide to quit and leave.
