Exactly. It’s depressing and infuriating. They won’t even give you all of YOUR SSI that YOU contributed throughout your life at once, or in a helpful amount. They control that, too. Just a bit, because you have to stay down where you belong. Right where they can call you a parasite on society. I’m sure that amount depends on how much you’ve worked throughout your life, but for a lot of people, it’s nowhere near enough. Forget retirement. You’re going to work until you’re dead. I work a hands on, blue collar job. Personally I love it. But it breaks my heart when I get elderly people applying to work there. We’re talking heavy lifting and constant moving, on your feet all day kind of work. The oldest person I’ve worked with was in her 90s. They threw her in an area where she’d have to handle the heaviest things we get. I was appalled. Luckily she was moved to a more appropriate area after a while. She rocked. Really cool lady. I’m really glad the Pell grant is helpful. Education should be free imo. Why are they making us pay for knowledge? That’s so crazy to me. I hope you’re achieving your goals and I hope it’s not too hard on you. Everyone deserves to live and not just survive.
