Just 14 minutes ago, a 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Sunday, May 31st, 2026, at 8:45 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 103. km below the surface.The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.A second report was later issued by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake.
