Idumbayan, 79, at Pattamangalam village, Mr. Vaiko criticised Governor Rajendra Arlekar for paying floral tributes to a portrait of Thiruvalluvar portrayed in saffron robes.Questioning the move, Mr. Vaiko alleged that the Governor had insulted the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu by portraying Thiruvalluvar in saffron attire.
