[XAUUSD] H4: Can 4,050 Hold the Road to 4,198?GoldOANDA:XAUUSDBMR_MasteTradeGold’s recovery from the 3,870 region has changed the local H4 structure, but the broader bearish sequence still presents several overhead barriers. The immediate question is whether buyers can defend the current pullback and build another higher low. If they can, the marked liquidity at 4,198.704 becomes the next meaningful structural test. MARKET STRUCTURE — LOCAL RECOVERY, LARGER OBSTACLES The chart shows a prolonged decline through successive lower highs and bearish structure breaks. More recently, price rebounded sharply from the November low and broke above the latest marked CHoCH level. That recovery supports a bullish development locally. It does not yet establish a complete reversal of the larger H4 downtrend. Price is now pulling back toward the blue support shelf labelled “BUY LIQUIDITY.” The rising trendline provides an additional reference beneath the recovery, although its price changes with time. The positive indicator reading should therefore be assessed alongside the actual swing structure. KEY CHART REFERENCES • Approximately 4,030–4,055: The nearby blue support shelf. Watch whether buyers defend or reclaim it during the pullback. • 4,008.62: The indicator’s mid pivot, below the current support shelf. • 4,146.92: The indicator’s upper-range reference and an intermediate recovery hurdle. • 4,198.704: The exact horizontal buy-side liquidity level marked on the chart. • Approximately 4,270–4,300: The marked “VL-- SELL ORDER” zone. • Approximately 4,490–4,570: The upper H4 FVG, representing the extended recovery objective. • 3,870.32: The indicator’s lower-range reference near the November recovery origin. Zone boundaries without printed prices are approximate readings from the screenshot. PRIMARY SCENARIO — SUPPORT HOLDS, RECOVERY CONTINUES IF the nearby blue shelf holds, or price briefly trades beneath it before reclaiming it with bullish displacement, THEN watch for a higher low and a break of the nearest corrective high. That would support a recovery toward 4,146.92, followed by the marked 4,198.704 liquidity level. A touch of liquidity is not the same as acceptance above resistance. Buyers would need to hold above 4,198.704 on a subsequent retest to strengthen the case for continuation toward the sell-order zone. EXTENDED SCENARIO — SELL ORDER, THEN UPPER FVG IF price clears 4,198.704 and maintains bullish structure, THEN the approximately 4,270–4,300 sell-order zone becomes the next reaction area. The projected path allows for a rejection there, followed by a retest of the 4,198 region. Only if that retest holds and buyers subsequently overcome the sell-order zone does the upper FVG become a stronger objective. The bearish arrow from the FVG marks a potential future reaction. It is not evidence that sellers have already confirmed a reversal there. BEARISH ALTERNATIVE AND INVALIDATION IF H4 accepts below the nearby support shelf and fails to reclaim it, THEN the immediate bullish recovery setup weakens. A subsequent loss of 4,008.62, together with a break of the rising support structure, would increase the risk of a deeper retracement toward the November base. Losing the recovery origin near 3,870 would invalidate the higher-low thesis from that base. MACRO CONTEXT US October payrolls increased by 165,000, unemployment stood at 4.1%, and monthly wage growth reached 0.4%. This keeps interest-rate sensitivity important for gold. The next major scheduled test is US CPI on November 10. A bullish chart projection still needs price confirmation if the dollar and yields remain firm. EXECUTION FOCUS The chart’s preferred path is a conditional recovery through successive resistance levels. Wait for support confirmation, define risk beneath the actual confirmation swing, and reassess at each overhead zone. The screenshot does not provide a confirmed entry or stop-loss, so a reliable reward-to-risk ratio cannot yet be calculated.
