Nurses are not your punching bags we don’t have nervous systems made of steel. Can you please share ways you set boundaries or advocate for yourself in the workplace? I basically shut down so I feel like memorizing some lines would be a good start.. I feel like the job is already stressful enough that having to deal with the stress of difficult patients, families, and some team members makes everything so much worse. There needs to be more accountability and consequences for verbal abuse in the workplace. I also don’t believe going through the worst day of your life excuses any nasty behavior towards healthcare staff, I’m sick and tired of hearing that infantilizing excuse. I have more good shifts than bad shifts but I think I may be burning out of ICU/bedside in general, maybe look into outpt pacu. I can no longer tolerate passive aggressiveness and bad attitudes from coworkers, physicians, family members, and patients. submitted by /u/Necessary-Broccoli70 [link] [comments]
