Hey everyone, I'm trying to track down an old freeware RPG Maker 2000 game I played back in the early to mid-2000s. I downloaded it from a website I distinctly remember as Kaimans World or Kaimens World, which I'm pretty sure was Caiman.us (Caiman Free Games). It was a standard medieval fantasy RPG using the RPG Maker 2000 engine with the classic default first-person, front-view turn-based battles where enemies stand statically on screen facing you. The main hero's name was Asp, or possibly a close variation like Asper. Early in the game, there was an explicit backstory scene explaining how he got his name because he was thrown into or abandoned in a pit full of asps and survived. Like a lot of RM2k games from that era, the soundtrack was made up of ripped MIDIs from other games. The overworld map played a synthy MIDI version of Final Fantasy VI's overworld theme (Terra's theme), and a synthy MIDI of The Legend of Zelda's Song of Storms played at a point in the game when you're on clouds I think? Does this ring a bell for anyone who played old RM2k games off Caiman back in the day? Any help finding the title or the original file would be awesome! submitted by /u/Saytrev to r/tipofmyjoystick [link] [comments]
