I too am sorry you went through that, I know how awful it is. Thank you for the name of the doctor, but sadly, I don’t even live on the same continent… I live in France, in Europe. Florida would be way too far. We have talented doctors in France too, but reaching them is a miracle or pure luck. I know there is one who knows MCAS very well a few hundreds kilometers away. But seeing him requires a special referral (because he works for a specialized service) I’ll never get. In Paris, they have a center where they test a lot of things around MCAS and EDS. But you need a referral too, and not just a quick « hey, please, meet this person ». This center is always referenced at the solution for a diagnostic but I just can’t get in. I already take antihistaminics (not Benadryl as we have different brands here. It’s a prescription one, I don’t know if it’s better than another one) and they probably help, but my reactions are still strong and worsening, so I’m not sure. Rice is mostly safe for me, but squash would destroy my guts (team IBS too). I react to garlic (this one is an allergy), onions, shallots, any spice, anything pre-made/pre-packaged due to additives and conservatives (but I don’t know exactly which ones. The allergologist refused to do the tests because they were too complicated. « Just avoid all of them », she said as a solution, like if it was easy), anything fat, anything fried, chocolate, alcohol, tea (probably coffee too. Makes my heart race like crazy, I almost fainted several times before understanding), strawberries, gluten/wheat, dairy (except cheese, I don’t know why. Not every cheese), potato skin, zucchini skin, tomato skin, soy, lentils… and that’s just a quick summary. And I can only eat very small quantities of vegetables and fruits, or my guts hate me. IBS is always lurking. I also have issues with volumes: if I ate enough to feel full, not frustrated etc, I wouldn’t be able to digest. It went from eating normally, not even overeating, just « I ate my meal and I’m not hungry anymore », to having to reduce again and again, I have no idea why. So I stay hungry a lot of the time. It’s frustrating to finish a meal feeling like you haven’t even started eating. And I have issues with time too. A long meal, like a family meal, is impossible now. I need to chose what to grab a bite from, and stop there. Even eating only a tiny bit of each doesn’t work, it’s too long. So… I chose a part of the meal, get a tiny bit of it, spend the full time watching others eat while being hungry. It sucks. Nightshades… I can’t eat bellpepers or anything spicy, tomatoes are complicated but doable in very small quantities, so I don’t know. But I’ll have a look at a list of them, I’m curious. I hate eating so much. Always the same bland things. Always scary. Never easy. Smells are making me sicker and sicker too. Food smells, particularly. I gag all the time. But doctor said it was fine, and my psychiatrist threatened to get me into a psych ward. So I guess I digest perfectly. I get so angry and defeated thinking about doctors! Awful people. Ew, I had no idea for citric acid! I thought it was safe. Mold. Bleh. Ground meat? Could the issue be that it’s sometimes old meat being grounded to look fresh again? Not spoiled meat, but meat that had enough time to get a lot of histamin? (I’m intolerant to that). It’s both sad and reassuring to talk to someone with the same kind of issues. Thank you
