TBC Georgia, one of the country’s leading financial institutions and part of London-listed TBC Bank Group, announces the launch of palm payment, becoming the first bank in Georgia to introduce the innovative biometric payment technology. The new solution allows customers to make purchases simply by scanning their palm at participating merchant locations, without the need for a physical bank card, smartphone or cash at the point of payment. The launch marks another milestone in the development of Georgia's digital payments market and reinforces TBC’s position as a pioneer of financial innovation in the country.Palm payment offers a convenient alternative to traditional payment methods, using biometric technology to link a customer's unique palm characteristics to their chosen bank account. The technology is gaining traction internationally as financial services providers and retailers explore new ways to make everyday transactions faster, simpler and more convenient. To activate the service, customers complete a simple, one-time registration at a location equipped with a dedicated palm scanner, after which they use TBC Georgia’s mobile bank to scan a QR code and select the account they wish to link to their palm. Once registered, customers can make payments by scanning their palm at any participating partner location.Sandro Rtveladze, Retail Business Director at TBC Georgia, commented: “At TBC, we have a long history of pioneering digital innovation in Georgia, from introducing the country's first internet banking services in 2001 to continuously expanding the range of convenient payment solutions available to our customers. With the introduction of palm payment, we are taking another step towards making everyday financial transactions simpler, faster, and more seamless. Our ambition is to bring the latest global financial technologies to Georgia and turn innovative ideas into practical solutions that improve the customer experience. Palm payment demonstrates how we continue to push the boundaries of digital banking and strengthen our position at the forefront of financial innovation in the region.”The launch follows TBC Georgia’s recent announcement of a partnership with American Express to expand American Express Card acceptance across the country. The agreement will enable more merchants to accept American Express Cards both in physical stores and online, providing consumers with greater payment flexibility while helping businesses reach more customers.Together, these initiatives reflect TBC Georgia's strategy to continuously enhance its payments ecosystem, expand choice and convenience for individuals and businesses, and accelerate the adoption of innovative financial technologies across the country. In April 2026, TBC Georgia was named the Most Innovative Bank in Central and Eastern Europe by Global Finance, recognising its commitment to developing customer-focused digital financial services.NoYesPayments06 Nov, 2026
