had a traumatic event recently at work where my patient had a potentially deadly weapon. they never brandished it at anyone but hospital security and several staff were afraid to leave the staff station. I acted and successfully took an unsafe situation and made it safe by removing the object and securing the patient. no policies were broken, no one was hurt but there was damage to hospital property. no one from my leadership team has reached out to ask how i’m doing. my first contact with my direct supervisor was a text two days later saying I had to attend a mandatory meeting with HR to discuss my version of events. my supervisor wouldn’t tell me whether I was being singled out, whether I was in trouble or what it was about, and was very cold toward me. come to find out —the meeting was no big deal and others involved also had meetings. it has now been a week. no one has asked if i’m okay. I am okay, but it’s really bothering me to feel like no one cares. more than the actual event. before you say it, I know I shouldn’t expect them to. management is management. I want to say something to them about how they’ve made me feel —that’s the trauma talking though, right? it feels like i’m not standing up for myself if I don’t. please talk me down off this ledge. left details intentionally vague, as the details are unlike anything i’ve encountered in my career. submitted by /u/intuitionbaby [link] [comments]
