ZMSviewer – I'm a 3D artist and made Windows show real previews for PSD, EXR, FBX, Blender and Maya files

Wait 5 sec.

Windows shows blank icons for most of the files I work with every day: Photoshop documents, EXR/HDR renders, DDS textures, FBX, Blender and Maya scenes. Browsing an asset library meant opening files one by one, so I built ZMSviewer. What it does: - Real thumbnails in File Explorer and on the desktop - Pictures: PSD/PSB, TIFF, TGA, DDS, EXR, HDR (tone-mapped) - 3D models: OBJ, STL, FBX, 3DS, GLB, PLY, Blender .blend, Maya .ma/.mb – read directly, no Blender or Maya needed, drawn as a clean clay render - E-books: FB2 and EPUB covers How it works: - Normal setup wizard, no admin rights - Files are only read, never changed - You choose which file types get previews, and can change it later - Uninstalling restores whatever previews you had before Known limits: modifiers and rigs aren't applied (you see the base mesh), and zstd-compressed .blend files aren't supported yet. The installer isn't signed, so SmartScreen shows a warning on first run. I'd love feedback: which formats should I add next? submitted by /u/Dangerous-Ad-3954 [link] [comments]
