hey all! so im an animation BFA student working on my thesis project. basically im building an interactive app to showcase a few highly detailed 3d models of wasps and teach people about them. the goal is for the models to be as accurate to life as possible-- so far its involved a LOT of research, dissecting specimens, staring through microscopes, and deciphering vague and generalized morphology diagrams lmao. ive included screenshots of my current progress in sculpting a female Polistes fuscatus (Northern Paper Wasp) specimen, plus the orthographic studies i did to decipher her sclerites and use as reference while i'm sculpting. if there are any experts in wasp morphology out there, i'd love any notes regarding my accuracy! i have yet to sculpt the antennae, pretarsi, and wing venation, but if theres other parts and details ive missed, please point them out to me! the areas i'm the most unsure about are the mouthparts, basal wing sclerites, and ventral side of the thorax. submitted by /u/ohnunu_ to r/waspaganda [link] [comments]
