I'm not an editor. I have a full-time job and I like talking to a camera a lot more than sitting in a timeline for hours. So I built an AI agent to do the first cut of my talking-head videos, and every video on my channel lately was cut with it. Disclosure: I built it, it's called Takehound. What I learned so far: Editing from a transcript is fast but blind. Cutting words is the easy part. The cut also has to know when my hands come up, when I move, when a sound lands. That had to be built into the agent itself, so it watches and listens to the cut instead of reading text. B-roll should come from my own footage. Stock clips make every video look the same. When none of my clips fit a line, I'd rather it stay on me than force something. Show the reason for every pick. I overrule a lot faster when I can see why it chose a clip. The edit isn't the whole problem. My previous video got 18 views and people left after about 9 seconds. Better cuts don't fix a weak opening, so that's what I'm working on next. It isn't free to run. Testing models and tools has cost me a couple hundred dollars in tokens so far. Episode 1 of me trying it out in public: https://youtu.be/eKYyjfPPndo If you want to try it on your own recording, the first video is free: https://takehound.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=w-push&utm_content=ep1-learned01 Happy to answer anything about how it works or where it still needs me. submitted by /u/Master_Ad9853 [link] [comments]
