Got so annoyed with my Camera’s Wi-Fi app that I ended up making my own iPhone app

Wait 5 sec.

I’ve had my RX100 M5A for like 7 years. Still love this little camera. The one thing that’s always frustrated me is getting photos onto my iPhone while traveling. The wireless connection can be slow and unreliable, and with the RX100’s already tiny battery, it’s not exactly ideal. Using an SD card reader with the Photos app works better, but you can’t zoom in without importing, videos won’t play, and RAW files look broken. And it can take forever to get to the latest shot if you have a lot of photos on the card. So I started making an iPhone app to deal with it. Basically, I can plug my camera straight into my iPhone, or use an SD card reader, and browse everything without importing it first. I ended up spending a lot of time on the performance side, trying to make swiping and zooming feel smooth as the native Photos app even when there are thousands of photos on the card. Here’s a quick demo using my own RX100 M5A! 👇 Finally got it onto the App Store this week. It’s called Camie: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/camie-photo-view-import/id6821229555 submitted by /u/alittleseal77 [link] [comments]
