Hey everyone! Second update, and this time you can actually try it yourself. Short version: the Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time now runs on a jailbroken PS5 through emulation (EglantinePS5, on the PS5 itself, no Linux). It’s rough, but it’s playable. Getting here took about 3 days of almost nonstop work, 49 test builds and around 200 test runs on my own console. One problem at a time: the white fog, the broken water reflections, the missing grass, and most recently the tree leaves and plants. The collage in the comments shows how it went from a hazy mess to what you see in the clip. If you like what you see, you don’t have to wait for it to get better. Grab it from the release. The short install steps are in the first comment. What you get: Two modes: Prettier (with leaves and plants) and Faster (without) The white flashes are mostly gone in my testing Most of the clip is from an older build, the end shows the newest one What’s still rough: Short dark flickers on sunny ground 18 to 24 fps with leaves on The first launch can crash, just launch it again It runs out of memory after a while, so save often Little freezes now and then Only tested on my own base PS5 on 12.40 You need your own game, keys and firmware. Nothing is included, so please don’t ask. Full honesty: I’m not a programmer. I did this with Claude, which wrote nearly all of the code, while I tested every build on my PS5 and decided what to try next. I just wanted people to be able to play it this weekend. Once the people who really know this stuff take over, I’ll step back. Bug reports go to issue 21. Big thanks to viejunerd and heydemoura (EglantinePS5), the Eglantine and Lichii devs, exploitizm (mesh fixes, and they had the leaf fix out minutes before me), Aflakon (memory), and Kajcsi and Inc0rporate (flash fixes). Full credits are in the release notes. Happy Jailbreaking! submitted by /u/Revolutionary-Gap178 [link] [comments]
