Kyle Pitts reveals what makes Bijan Robinson ‘special’ and how Michael Penix can keep Tua on Falcons’ bench

Wait 5 sec.

Kyle Pitts has already seen it all in six seasons as an Atlanta Falcon. He’s caught a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan, put up big numbers with Marcus Mariota and Kirk Cousins, and now trusts in Michael Penix Jr. while Tua Tagovailoa watches from the bench. Kyle Pitts is one of the most talented tight ends in the NFLgetty“Mike’s a lead-by-example quarterback,” Pitts exclusively told talkSPORT’s Will Varney before the Falcons’ game vs the Cincinnati Bengals in Madrid at Bernabeu Stadium. “He’s not like a super yeller, I would say. He’s definitely like, he’ll pullyou aside and and tell you what you need to do if he sees something that needs to be fixed or he wants to talk to you. “Everybody’s cool with him. We all love him. He’s a super personable, funny guy. Actually, a lot of people don’t get to see that side of him. But, yeah, we love him and Sit’s pretty cool to play beside him.”A 16-0 road loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put the Falcons in a frustrating 3-5 hole, especially after the Bucs won with 324 rushing yards and zero passing yards in a historical rarity. But Atlanta goes again on Sunday in Spain, and the No. 4 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft (Florida) is focused on placing the Falcons back in the win column.“It’s a steady grind,” Pitts said. “You can’t count anything right now to to the postseason. We’re just trying to stack as many wins as possible each week and just go 1-0 this week and see where it takes us at the end.”A three-year, $54 million contract ($36m guaranteed) proved before Week 1 that the Falcons are committed to Pitts in the present and future. “For them to put that trust in me and knowing they see me as someone long term, that was pretty cool personally and competitively,” Pitts said. Ryan is now Atlanta’s president of football, while first-year head coach Kevin Stefanski proved in Cleveland that he can successfully navigate through roadblocks. The NFC South doesn’t feature a single team with a winning record, which makes Sunday vs the Bengals at Bernabeu even more important for the talented but still-unproven Falcons. Yes, it’s a business trip and we know what we’re here for. But we also get a chance to go aroundtown and see different things that we don’t get to see in United States.”Pitts broke 1,000 yards as a rookie but hasn’t reached that stage since. He’s caught 22 balls for 197 yards and four touchdowns this season.Pitts on Drake London Pitts on Drake London: “It’s been great playing beside Drake and seeing him from his rookie year to now. It’s definitely night and day, just becoming stronger every year. More physical and more of a vocal leader, for sure.”Pitts has a Pro Bowl honor and second-team All-Pro selection since entering the league but there’s more that the Falcons can still get out of one of the league’s most talented tight ends.“I think my journey is pretty unique,” Pitts said. “Some people say going through the quarterback carousel. But in my eyes, I feel like I’ve had a chance to learn from multiple different quarterbacks at different stages in my career. And each one of those quarterbacks have taught me something different and that’s helped me to where I am now.”The former Florida star knows for certain that the Falcons have an offensive beacon in Bijan Robinson, who leads the NFL with 780 rushing yards and spent this week stressing that he can be even better.“Bijan’s a special person, special athlete,” Pitts said. “To see what he can do in practice — some of them may not get to the game — and to see his footwork and his offseason preparation is pretty cool to see.”Sign up for talkSPORT Stateside, the YouTube channel dedicated to passionate US Sports fans.
