Arsenal host Hull City in the Premier League this weekend as they look to maintain their strong position at the top of the English top flight and continue their push to retain the league title. The Gunners head into the fixture with confidence after beating Liverpool at Anfield in their previous league match. That result provides a significant boost ahead of another important test, although Mikel Arteta will be keen to ensure his players do not become complacent against a determined Hull side. Some Arsenal supporters will still remember Hull’s famous victory at the Emirates in 2008. However, the Gunners have generally dominated this fixture since then, and they will be expected to secure another positive result on home soil.Arsenal face determined Hull challengeHull have shown plenty of determination this season and are aiming to cause enough upsets to maintain their Premier League status. Their performances have made them difficult opponents, and Arsenal will need to approach the contest with the right attitude despite being favourites. The Gunners have considerably more quality and depth across their squad, but Hull’s fighting spirit could make the game more challenging than some supporters expect. Arsenal will want to impose themselves early and avoid giving the visitors any encouragement.(Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)Shearer backs Arsenal to have too much qualityFormer England striker Alan Shearer also expects Arsenal to win, although he believes the contest could be difficult, particularly coming after their European commitments. Speaking via the Metro, he explained why he believes the Gunners have enough strength in depth to overcome Hull.“I don’t think it’ll be easy for Arsenal. I think it’ll be pretty tough. It always is after games in Europe. It’s never straightforward, but Arsenal, squad-wise, will have too much depth for Hull.“Hull started the season so well but no win in nine now, I still think they will be in trouble this season. I think it’ll be a tough season for them, they’ll be in and around bottom three, but I think they would have taken where they are at the beginning of the season, unfortunately for them I think Arsenal will have too much for them.”Shearer’s prediction reflects the difference in squad quality between the two teams, even though he recognises that Hull could make life uncomfortable for Arsenal. The Gunners will hope to turn their advantage into another three points and continue their pursuit of the title._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
