Godolphin Flying Start graduate Liza Hendriks has announced the launch of Quinella Silks, a new company specializing in custom racing silks, in a press release issued this week. The company began accepting orders in October and enjoyed early success at last weekend's Breeders' Cup at Keeneland, with Flavien Prat wearing its silks aboard GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Hughes and Juan Hernandez sporting them aboard GI Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner Bacio.Quinella Silks produces custom racing colors in traditional satin and an aerodynamic performance fabric. The silks are made in New York City's Garment District.Hendriks, who previously founded the online Thoroughbred auction platform Wanamaker's, now known as Inglis Digital USA, comes from a racing family, with both parents involved in training. “Both my parents train, so I grew up seeing how much every detail matters on race day,” Hendriks said. “Silks are part of that. We wanted to hold them to the same standard as everything else that goes into getting a horse to the races.”A portion of every order is donated to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
